Troubleshooting: I keep getting the message: Http 500 Internal server error Microsoft Internet Explorer.  What does this mean and how do I solve it?

This is an “HTTP Friendly Error Message.” It is a generic way of saying there is a problem and it is absolutely useless in helping to determine what kind of problem is going on. So, the first thing we need to do is turn off your friendly error messages.

Go to Tools menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar. Click on Internet

Options.  Click on the Advanced tab all the way on the top right.  Scroll down and find the line that says “Show friendly HTTP error messages." Turn this option OFF (make sure the box not checked).

Try again to generate the report you were working on. If you get an error message on your screen, it should be three or four lines of what will look like database code - please copy this message and e-mail it to, along with a detailed description of exactly what you did immediately before the error screen (include any query information, any boxes that were checked, etc) and we'll have a programmer take a look at it.
