Bar Code Data Entry

 

CompleteCampaigns.com allows you to use bar codes in walk lists for easy data entry into the database. In order to use bar codes, your walk list should be designed to use bar codes. For more information, go to Custom Walk Lists.  

 

Things you’ll need before you begin:

  • 3 of 9 (or code 39) Bar Code Scanner configured to do carriage return after each scan and ready to use from your computer

 

How to record your walk lists with a bar code reader:

  1. Go to Add/Search menu and select Bar Code Data Entry

  2. With your scanner, scan the Voter’s bar code. You should see a number appear in the text box.

  3. With your scanner, scan all applicable codes or communications. They will appear in the text box.

  4. Move to you next voter. Repeats steps 2 & 3 until the first page is complete. (We recommend doing only one page at a time).

  5. Once you have completed your first page, click Review.

  6. Review the Voter and the codes and communications attached. Change any that were scanned incorrectly.

  7. Once you have completed the review, click Save.

  8. The page with the text box should appear and the “Your Update was Successful.”

  9. You may begin your next page (go to Step 2).

 

How to get and install 3 of 9 font:

  1. From the Bar Code Data Entry screen, go to Utilities at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Click on the Install 3 of 9 font.

  3. Follow the install directions.

 

How to get a Bar Code list of Codes:

  1. Install the 3 of 9 font (if you have already, skip this step).

  2. From the Bar Code Data Entry, go to Utilities at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Click on the Barcoded Codes link. In a pop-up window you should get a report with all the codes in bar code format.

  4. Printthis report (in order to scan, they must be in a paper format).

 

How to get a Bar Code list of Communications:

  1. Install the 3 of 9 font (if you have already, skip this step).

  2. From the Bar Code Data Entry, go to Utilities at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Click on the Barcoded Communications link. In a pop-up window you should get a report with all the codes in bar code format.

  4. Printthis report (in order to scan, they must be in a paper format).

 

Option to not use the Scanner:

You can opt to not use the scanner or use it somewhat by handkeying the numerical information.
